I’ve already had one crack at it, so it’s time to take another. This Amiga 500 Plus has suffered some battery damage. On the face of it, it doesn’t look bad, but the Amiga doesn’t work – it gives us a black screen and a flashing drive light.
A black screen is not the same as no display. There is video output, perfectly formed with sync pulses and all that stuff. There’s just no picture data.
Some of my viewers had mentioned a video by CRG – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V3yC2DFsNlc – in which Craig fixes an A500+ with what looks like (on the face of it) a very similar problem. Same number of flashes. Only his Amiga has a green screen.
What is interesting is that the Amiga diagnostic codes list https://www.lemonamiga.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13978 does not include the flash sequence with a black screen, only a green one.
Anyhow, it’s worth a shot, right? And there’s still the rabbit-hole of a dead Agnus to explore…
